CHAPTER TWELVE

Bruce was a lot more receptive to my crazy ideas than I’d initially imagined. But for being a part of my plan, I needed to give Bruce something in return. Something to sweeten the deal. I had to offer he and his mother a way out of this situation with their father. His mother was never going to leave her husband. Bruce was never going to come out to his father nor was he going to confront his father for his abusive ways per his mother’s wishes. So, in exchange for his participation in my plan with sending my wife back into my loving arms, I had to grant him an opportunity to escape from his father’s watchful judging abusive eyes and also attempt to fix the situation permanently. This was going to take some time.

Like I said, Bruce was a decent guy, and he agreed to mull it over while I laid the groundwork for his participation with me getting my wife back emotionally.

This plan was already formulated over the course of months; therefore I was in no rush to become impatient now.

Part of my plan literally fell into my lap. Our pastor asked me to speak at a church function about the sanctity of marriage and how important this union was. Little did he know I was actively looking to push my wife into the arms of another man. Felicity didn’t know this either. She thought it was odd that I’d accept such a role as I’d never really showed much interest in church functions and she knew I mainly went there out of a since of duty to my parents who were much involved in church functions.

Felicity didn’t grow up in the church environment but she did relish the fact that they enjoyed her cooking and were willing to book her business as steady clients. This was a point of pride that she had as the other catering services in town often tried to underbid her secretly with the church committee members, but the pastor had a particular liking for my family, and he persuaded some of the members in the church committee that he preferred her food over the other’s even though they were underbidding her services and that he felt it was the lord’s doing that she cater our services because, along with his sermons, it brought in visitors from other parishes.

I was willing to do whatever it took to get my wife’s affections back. I was actively mentioning how despicable I thought cuckolding and infidelity was and how offensive this behavior was for anyone engaged these activities was around the house. The thought of stating this at my church was not only the next logical step, but it would show my commitment to this idea to Felicity.

In my plotting I had to suffer the humiliation of my wife’s flirting in a public setting, which increased per my conversation with Bruce. This was torture. The thought of Felicity being with another man tore me up inside, even if I’d planned the entire encounter.
